1.  Karan was the most attractive personality of Mahabharata but surprisingly, in his previous life, he was a demon named ‘Dambhodbhava’ or Sahastra-Kavach who got a boon from sun god to be protected by a thousand armour ‘Kavach’ and which could only be broken by someone who had performed a penance of a thousand years and whoever would break the armour would die immediately. He was killed by Nar and Narayan(Vishnu) 999 times and finally, after he took refuge with Surya, the sun-god, to be reborn as Karan. 2. Mahabharat Epic

The Mahabharata is an ancient Indian epic where the main story revolves around two branches of a family - the Pandavas and Kauravas - who, in the Kurukshetra War, battle for the throne of Hastinapura. Interwoven into this narrative are several smaller stories about people dead or living, and philosophical discourses. Krishna-Dwaipayan Vyasa, himself a character in the epic, composed it; as, according to tradition, he dictated the verses and Ganesha wrote them down. At 100,000 verses, it is the longest epic poem ever written, generally thought to have been composed in the 4th century BCE or earlier. The events in the epic play out in the Indian subcontinent and surrounding areas. It was first narrated by a student of Vyasa at a snake-sacrifice of the great-grandson of one of the major characters of the story. Including within it the Bhagavad Gita, the Mahabharata is one of the most important texts of ancient Indian, indeed world, literature.

Arjun - The Great

Arjun was one of the five pandavas brother of the Mahabharata epic. He was born to Kunti and king Pandu with energy of Indra the leader of the gods. At a very young age he got acclaim for his sincerity and skill in archery. He was known for his steadfastness and single mindless in pursuing his goals, He was instrumental in winning Draupadi in a contest for himself  and his brothers as their joint wife. He also married Subhadra the sister of Krishna and Balarama and kept his friendship with them for ever. Lord Krishna became his mentor and guide for the rest of his life. The Bhagvad Gita or the song of god was revealed by lord Shree Krishna to Arjun on the threshold of the epic war of Mahabharata. A decisive war between two set of cousins the Kauravas and the Pandavas was just about to commence on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, A detailed account of the reasons which led to a war of such enormity are given  under Introduction, under "The Setting of the Bhagavad Gita".

Karna’s Kavach

Karna the child of Surya ( Sun god) was born with a shield that protected him from weapons and atrocities of the war. It might be similar to the organic shield like exoskeleton found in tortoise, still extremely solid. Not at all like fake exoskeleton used by people, Karna’s Kavach was mixed with his body. He later gave it to Indra, the father of Arjuna, who was threatened by Karna’s skill, perseverance and strength.
